Specialized, Somatic Trauma Therapy—Within Your Network.
Clear, transparent care in South Anchorage. Evidence-based healing paired with seamless insurance navigation.
Insurance & Payment
Starting therapy should feel grounding, not logistically overwhelming. At Common Thread Counseling, our team of licensed clinicians provides specialized bottom-up care—including Brainspotting, EMDR, and neuroexperiential modalities—alongside traditional therapeutic approaches for teens, adults, and couples.
We believe high-level clinical trauma care should remain accessible. That is why our group practice contracts directly with leading Alaska insurance networks and manages benefit verifications on your behalf before your first appointment.
Coverage & Payment Pathways
In-Network Commercial Insurance
We proudly bill directly as in-network providers across several major health plans:
- Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska
- Aetna
- Meritain Health
- EBMS
- Moda Health
Private Pay & Health Accounts
For clients choosing not to utilize insurance, seeking complete confidentiality, or pursuing specialized intensive services (such as two-day Deep Dives):
- Direct self-pay rates available upon request.
- We readily process Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
- Major credit and debit cards accepted.
Out-of-Network Courtesy Billing
If your carrier is not listed above, you may still access care with us. For plans with out-of-network behavioral health benefits, our billing department provides complimentary out-of-network courtesy billing directly to your insurer, or supplies comprehensive Superbills upon request so you receive allowable reimbursement without managing paperwork alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do all therapists at Common Thread Counseling accept every listed network?
Our practice is credentialed with Premera, Aetna, EBMS, Meritain, and Moda. Individual network participation varies slightly depending on provider license tier and credentialing schedules. During your initial 30-minute consultation, our intake coordinator matches you with a clinician who aligns with both your clinical focus and your specific insurance plan.
What is the difference between in-network and courtesy billing?
When a provider is in-network, we submit claims directly to your carrier under agreed contract rates, and you are only responsible for your plan’s copayment, coinsurance, or deductible. With out-of-network courtesy billing, we submit the necessary claims directly to your insurance company on your behalf so you do not have to navigate the claim submission portal yourself.
Can I use my FSA or HSA card?
Yes. FSA and HSA cards can be applied toward copays, coinsurance, deductible balances, and approved self-pay sessions.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under federal law, patients without insurance or those not using insurance are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate detailing the cost of medical care. At Common Thread Counseling, we are happy to provide this estimate upon request.
